You could Have Heard a Pin Drop…
Thought you might enjoy… this came to me by way of email but I think its worth sharing. It’s yet another lesson in American Foreign Policy. Who knows if the quotes are true. Either way, I like it.
YOU COULD HAVE HEARD A PIN DROP
When in England at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of empire building by George Bush.
He answered by saying, ‘Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked
for in return is enough to bury those that did not return.

Talking to our enemies?
The issue with rogue states is that by talking to them you give them legitimacy, undeserved public attention (that they use to deceive their people with) and you give them time. Liberals know that they are week on this position. The Obama doctrine is a doctrine of appeasement and I think it’s very appropriate as a campaign issue. He first proclaims meeting “without preconditions” then quickly backs it up with “well, there would be preparations”. Look, I think the common sense people would agree that if these rogue, ruthless dictators stop funding terror groups, stop killing and starving their people, then we’ll talk.
